There is an ongoing investigation by a Supreme Court judge regarding suspected war crimes committed by the Australian Special Forces. Chief of Army Lieutenant-General Angus Campbell confirmed allegations that had been rumored regarding crimes committed by members of the Australian Special Forces. Some of these concealed crimes took place in Afghanistan, as authenticated by Commando Kevin Frost who came forward about a covered up illegal death of a prisoner of war. The death he exposed was one that he could not even watch at the time. "I turned around and the guy was dead. He'd been shot through the forehead," commented Frost. Frost completed three tours in Afghanistan and has since suffered with drug addiction and PTSD. His hope is that his coming forward about this specific incident will encourage other soldiers to do the same. Frost is fully prepared to be punished and receive a sentence whether it is through jail time or another medium. There has been no comment about the number of incidents being investigated nor which specific events are being investigated.
There is so much appreciation felt toward military personnel because daily they risk their lives for the safety of our countries and the people within. It is sometimes overlooked that there are also crimes being committed by these same people. Many times the crimes deal with the enemies, which makes it easier to disregard these alleged events whether or not they actually occurred. However, we need to remember that enemies are still people and there are rules that need to be followed. I have never been in or around the military so I do not know much about the rules of engagement nor how they should be carried out. What I do know is that a murder, no matter whom the victim is, should not be hidden or covered up. I would guess it was hidden because this death was not meant to occur, but I also want to believe that the people serving in the military are the kind that would speak up and be honest with their superiors. I am sure it took Frost a lot of time and self-convincing to come forward and be truthful about his experience. It is honorable that he admits what happened and that he is ready to receive punishment for his part in this hidden war crime. Frost can be seen commenting on the investigation and the crime he helped hide at: www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-13/australia's-special-forces'-alleged-war-crimes/7927914. The creepy clown craze that is sweeping the United States has now hit Australia as well. People dressed as creepy clowns have been spotted in South Australia throughout the Adelaide metropolitan area. A Facebook page, Clown Purge Adelaide, was created and it has had over 13,000 likes since September. Police in Victoria and South Australia are warning that they will not tolerate this fad. Many stories are coming out about people having run ins with these clown copy cats. On Saturday, October 8th, a nineteen year old man dressed as a clown chased a group of girls for about 700m (0.43mi). Oddly enough, the destination of the chase was a police department where the man was taken into custody. Clinical and forensic psychologist, Kirsten Bouse, explained that it is the ambiguity and disguse of the clown that causes fear among people. Bouse said, “When we can't see somebody's face, when they make unusual gestures and we can't kind of add it up and reconcile it in our mind ... we experience that as creepy and so suddenly we're on high alert.” There are some people with a legitimate phobia of clowns, and if they were to come into contact with a clown it could be extremely harmful for that person. There has also been concern expressed that these pranks may escalate into something much more serious.
This clown craze is absolutely ridiculous. These people are dressing up in masks and getting joy out of terrorizing people. Police are being called to go to various locations of supposed clown sightings and many times the clowns are gone by that point or it was a fake call. The police are trying to keep everyone safe, but their forces are being spread out among these clown calls, which they are trained to take seriously. It is a waste of police time and bodies. Maybe the clown people figure that if they go out and do this they will become famous, and there are some people who will do whatever it takes to get some time in the spotlight. The communities these clowns are appearing in are sick of these creepy clowns, and if they keep coming around the people are going to do something about it that will hurt the clown and get them in trouble. In the U.S. there have been people arrested for attacking these clown people even though they were just trying to protect themselves. Social media is fueling these clown incidents, but they need to stop. People should not be afraid to be outside in their own neighborhoods. The third man has been arrested as he was holding a knife when the police arrived and he has been identified as the stabber. Oddly, the 55-year-old also had stab wounds on his neck, but it is uncertain who inflicted those wounds. The stabber and the 48-year-old woman had been in a relationship, but there was history of domestic violence within that relationship. The connection between the couple and the 57-year-old man is unclear. This incident seemed to have been fuelled by alcohol, but no reason for this attack was given.
It is hard to give a reason for every attack that happens. We cannot say why people do some of the disturbed things that have been done. The involvement of alcohol may help to explain why the 55-year-old acted so irrationally. Although the relationship was undetermined, a possibility may have been an unfaithful relationship between the woman and the 57-year-old. This, however, is a speculation and should not be thought of as the answer to this crime.
